Are you the one among those saying I’ve lot of doubts while applying for TNPSC exams online? or you feel it difficult to apply TNPSC exams online due to so many arising doubts & confusions.
To make full stop for all your doubts, I’m here with a latest step-by-step procedure to apply TNPSC exams online. It is a worthy guide, you must trust me.
In this article, you’ll see how to apply any TNPSC exams online and things you need to enter at every sections with clear information and pictures. Be it Group 2, Group 2A, Group 1, Combined engineering services, VAO, Group IV and Other exams
After reading this post, you can directly goto TNPSC website and apply online any Recruitment without any problem. I promise, you’ll need no support at the middle or at the end until you finish your application.
Before we head over to procedure, I’ve a question for you. Can you apply for TNPSC recruitment straight away?
If you say “yes”, your’re absolutely wrong!
Because, TNPSC has restricted candidates from applying directly for any exams. This announcement came into effect from TNPSC group 2A exam.
So what’s that you need to do before application?
One-Time Registration: It is compulsory from now on says TNPSC Board
Well, you must enroll yourself to One-Time Registration. Here, all your personal details (That can’t be changed, i.e Permanent) are collected and stored in TNPSC official servers.
Though you find it difficult to complete this process, One-time registration will help you save time in future TNPSC exam-applications. (All for getting a ID & Pass for quick access to stored data)
Now, quickly access to TNPSC exams page where you’ll see the option as shown in the above picture. As you go, you can see “One Time Registration” button where you need to click on to register.
As you see picture, you may either click blue marked or red marked. Let me explain what a candidate has to click at this point.
- Blue Marked (Left-hand side): This should be clicked if you’ve one time registration ID & Pass with you already (Here you’re asked to verify if further to their new interface). It means, you were already registered for One-time registration and had attended more than one TNPSC exam previously.
- Red Marked (Right-hand side): Click this option only when you’re new to TNPSC exams or you haven’t have One-Time Registration ID & Pass. Candidates who previously registered for One-Time and lost their ID & Pass must enroll again by clicking this option.
This is all because, the one-time registration is compulsory now. TNPSC is the second to implement this option following Kerala PSC.
Now let us see how to proceed with these options.
Procedure for “Already having One-time ID & Pass (Blue Marked & Left Hand side page)”
As you enter the page, you need to enter the Login ID and Password to get access. You may either get it from your email inbox or sms inbox. Do search for “TNPSC One-time” to get the file immediately.
In case if you’ve forgotten the ID & Pass, you may retrieve it through “Forget Password” or “Forget Login Id” options.
Are you getting me?
These options are made to retrieve even your old one-time registration ID & Pass which is valid for 5 good years.
I can say, One-time ID & Pass for 5 years is almost equal to life time access because, you probably won’t apply for TNPSC exams for all five years (You may either selected in a TNPSC post or obtained a other good job).
And this is for sure:
You’ll abandoned this site soon after getting job.
Okay now, after successful login, you’ll see a page like this where you need to confirm your details.
Here, you must make sure that details you furnished are correct.
Your name should be as it is in your 10th Mark sheet. Leave space accordingly in between names. Eg: RAJ KUMAR.
It is not mentioned anywhere to fill everything in capital letters. But I suggest all my readers to fill this part of application in Upper case.
Make sure, the Initial of your mother should be the First letter of your father and not your mother’s father. You might have already done it correctly. For Birth place, enter the city name as like in Birth certificate.
Father’s birth place-District can be entered as what you know. But that too will subject to verification. In case if you don’t have any official record for your father’s birth place, you can enter your own birth place District. For example, if your town is Vriddhachalam, you may enter Cuddalore as your father’s birth place.
Is it clear?
I know it is very clear and detailed.
In the next step, select your religion from the drop-down list. Then select your communal category. Eg: BC, MBC, SC/ST, OC. In sub-caste, select your caste name. Eg: Hindu-Kavara or Adidravider
For issuing authority, you must select the person whom have signed in your community certificate. Eg: Zonal deputy Thasildhar.
For Certificate number, look for a black bold Time New Roman font number printer either in Right hand side or left hand side of your community certificate. Date of Issue can also be obtained from upper left corner of your certificate.
Now, you need to enter the District and Taluk. In some cases, District and Taluk are same. Eg: Tiruvannamalai District and Tiruvannamalai Taluk, in case if your taluk office is in Tiruvannamalai.
Other questions like differently abled, ex-serviceman, government employee, disqualified from TNPSC exams previously have to marked accordingly. If none of the above suits you, select “No” for all the above four blanks.
Now, this is the very complicated section you must be well aware of. In education qualifications, you must fill the details as per the certificates you have with you.
For month and year of passing, you must refer your marksheet to enter them. Eg: You may see “Mar 2010” in your upper right hand side of your marksheet which has to be entered as 03/2010.
Select the medium of instruction as it is in your TC.
Now:
For Name of the Board/University, you must enter like this accordingly
- For 10th Standard: Matriculation or State Board or CBSE
- 12th standard: State Board
- Diploma: TNDTE
- Undergraduate degree: Anna University or Tiruvalluvar University or…..
- Post Graduate: Sastra University or Sathyabhama University or……
In any other qualifications, you may either enter the computer courses you’ve finished or some other valuable courses for which you posses certificate. Eg: DMO, DCA, Adobe Photoshop, Auto CAD, STADD Pro, etc(Do not add less value courses here). Add as much as you can as this will add extra preference on selection if selected.
Enter the certificate numbers in the respective rows. Don’t fill these rows in hurry as you may enter something wrong.
As you enter drag further, you can see communication field. Check whether the given details are correct. Change the email and phone number to current working phone numbers.
For uploading photo, follow this tip if you don’t have one studio-taken passport size photo file.
- Goto studio with a flash/pen drive with you
- Take 4 passport size photo and ask the studio-man to copy the same file in pendrive.
- As you copy, you can take it home and edit to required size in terms of file and dimension.
- Now, a studio-taken photo is always larger in size, usually 800 to 1000kb.
- To reduce the file size, use MS paint.
Goto the file and just right-click to edit. Then select “resize” option in pain left upper corner. Upon clicking it, there appears re-sizing bar. Click Percentage and maintain aspect ratio (this is to keep the dimension correctly).
Now simply reduce the Horizontal numbers to 40 or 30 and click “Ctrl+S”. Doing so will reduce file and the reduction can be watched in real time in the bottom left of MS Paint.
…and finally click save & continue.
After clicking save & continue, you’ll be warned to make sure all details furnished are correct. So you need to once again check all details you’ve furnished are correct. In case you missed any, you can add them there. Because, afterwards, you cannot correct any them in future.
But still you have one option in your hand.
Even if you try from beginning with a fresh new One-Time registration, your’s will be rejected. Keep it in mind.
After the process, it will take you to your dashboard. Here you can change or educational qualifications by “edit Profile” button. You can also change the sign or Photo.
Now, You’re done. Your one time registration confirmation is over.
Apply TNPSC Exams Online: A detailed procedure
Now let us quickly see how to apply for an exam. I take “TNPSC Group 2A exam” for this experiment. Head over to TNPSC exams page and click on the “Apply” link that is right to the Group 2A exam.
Now, after clicking that, you’ll be asked to enter One Time Registration ID and Pass. Upon entering, you’re now moving to application page you’ll see all the details are self-filled except few.
There are still some changeable options given to make corrections. Here you can change unmarried to married if married. Change the community certificate details if changed.
Boring?
Here’s the good news:
You’ve completed the 90% of application. Do you wonder how?, Yes, all other details are self filled as you registered for One-time.
Still there is one thing left:
Yes, you need to enter the date of result published for all 10th, HSC, UG, PG and Diploma. If you know the date, enter them. In case if you forget, enter a random date but make sure the month you enter is accurate.
If you have any technical qualifications, enter them. If no, leave them blank.
In previously appeared oral test. if you can remember things, enter them or leave it blank.
Now, select the preferred examination center. Select the subject if options are given. Sometimes you would see English or Tamil sort of questions as choice here. Make sure you pay fees if you’ve crossed the three times free exam. If you claim fee relaxation 4th time or more, your application may liable to be rejected.
Now you need to enter the experience details. Enter the institute name, period of work dates as in service certificates and nature of duty, Eg: Teaching, Driving etc.

Check all declarations and proceed to next. Here you’ll be asked for payment. For payment, please do select Net banking (Debit Credit card options)
The reason why I suggest debit card option is to quickly get your application accepted. If you choose Post office challen, you need to take print out and pay directly in local post office. And this will take 3 days for the payment to reach TNPSC to confirm your application.
This is of course a pathetic procedure. But it is wiser to choose debit card payment.
That’s it. Prepare well for the exam.
